After a sleep-over at Pam's, I discovered she owned the first curling iron I'd ever seen. I thought it was near magic. That day I had lots of tight little curls. Pam had a wonderful smile.
Pamela Lee Linder was born into this world on April 23, 1942 to Leona and Alfred Gates. She was bound for heaven on July 11, 2008, after a long hard fought battle, with a heart so full of love for her family, but yet so very tired and disabled from heart disease and diabetes.
Pam joins her Father Alfred and Daughter Teresa Lynn in heaven. She leaves behind her Husband of forty-seven years, John and three children: Christopher, Joann, and Stephanie; her Mother Leona and Sister Penny also survived her; Pam's three grandchildren: Christopher, Annette, and Spencer whom are saddened by the loss of Mammah, but know that she has gone to a much better place where diabetes and heart disease do not exist.
Pam was an accomplished A.I.F.D. florist and with her daughter Stephanie, operated Floral Designs West in Redondo Beach, California for many years. She was also an excellent composter, shopper enthusiast and an art hobbyist. She will forever be known as "the Mammah that gave a short answer or a long one," depending on which one you preferred. She shall live forever in our memories, photographs and hearts!
In life, Pam was invited to Ronald Reagan's 1985 Inaugural Ball at JFK Center to design floral arrangements, created the original striped bags for Kellogg's Compost, developed a successful compost company and was the Executive Director of a non-profit trade compost organization.
In lieu of flowers, please plant an Apple tree in her memory somewhere in your city and please make sure you add great compost and lots of water. Two private Memorial services are being considered as Pam lived in different regions of California some of her life. One will occur in Owens Valley and the other in Santa Maria, dates to be determined.
