Bill and I got to drive on sand dunes before we were old enough to drive on streets.  We spent a week camping in his tear-drop trailer at Osa Flaca.  During the days, the only thing we had to do was see how many dunes we could drive up in his model-A or my 41 Plymouth that had been converted to a beach buggy.  His Model-A was extremely torqy and did better than my plymouth at climbing the sand dunes.  What a rough life!  The last time I saw him was at Hancock College.  He had recently bought a motor cycle and let me drive it.

My mother, Toni Sorensen, was friends with Bill when she worked at Mission Auto Supply. I think I must have been gone to college. She told me that he was driving his Volkswagon on the way to Santa Barbara. He was going fast and a severe wind that blows through that canyon caught him and caused him to crash. He died in the accident. He was one of her "adopted" boys and she felt very sad about his death. By Anne Sorensen Shriner

Here I am again, to make a correction.  I talked with my sister, and she tells me that Bill lived in their trailer court by Preisker Park when she lived there. He was married and one day his wife came home and found that he had died at home. He had a weak heart. He did have an accident earlier, but lived through it. Sorry for the mis-information.
