I met Leon as freshmen at our great Santa Maria high school! He became a good friend throughout high school. I lost track of him after graduation, and didn't see him again, till the day he pulled me over on the Guadalupe road to Santa Maria! He was with the California highway patrol and recognized me going the other way! He pulled up behind me and walked to the window and yelled at me to show him my license. I gave him my drivers license and looked up and saw him just smiling away! I think I called him every name in the book, and he just laughed, because he pulled a good prank on me! We had coffee in Guadalupe and had coffee every week, till he was transferred to Solvang! I will miss my good friend Leon.

I am so sad to hear Leon has passed away. We were very good friends growing up, hunting together going on trips, etc.  Does anyone have any information about his passing?  I would like to know more.

I saw a lot of Leon growing up.  Our mothers were from the same very small town in Arkansas.  I googled it and it's all the way up to a population of 500.  After my folks moved to Los Alamos and Leon was in the CHP, he would often stop by and talk with them.  He just put that CHP car in the barn.  That really made their day.  He certainly didn't have to stop by but he did because he knew they enjoyed it.  That's just the kind of sweet person he was.  I'm so sorry he's not with us now.
