Richard was born in Clovis, New Mexico, living in Salinas, CA when he passed away. He attended schools in Guadalupe and Santa Maria. Richard is survived by his wife, Gloria, three children and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by eight siblings. (Excerpted from the Santa Maria Times)

John Sabedra (Sabedra)
Rich and I both attended Guadalupe grammar school and Santa Maria high. We had some good times growing up in good old Guadalupe. I still remember the time, me Rich, Sotero, and tony ruiz flipped Sotero's dad's pickup on the point sal grade. The bad part we were only in the 8th grade. I'll always remember Richard, and even though he marched to a different drummer, he was my very good friend and I'll miss him very much.
