The folowing is excerpted from Ken's obituary in the Stockton paper:

Kenneth Steven Moore passed away on May 27, 2011, in Stockton, CA at the age of 68. Ken was born January 9, 2943 in Santa Maria to Georgia and Kenneth Moore. Ken received a Masters degree in history from Sacramento State. He retired from 25 years of teaching seventh and eighth grade in Manteca ten years ago. After teaching, he continued working with young people as a trapshooting coach with the Stockton Junior Scholastic Trap Assn. Ken enjoyed playing golf, hunting in Mexico, Argentina and Africa as well as local areas. Ken's greatest passion was being involved with his friends who were pilots during World War II. As a historian he was particularly involved with the P-38 fighter airplane. He and World War II Ace Bill Behrns were just completing the writing of "San Joaquin Siren", a book telling of Bill's experiences during the Pacific campaign. Ken enjoyed his time at home with his loving dogs, watching his Lakers and Dodgers. Ken is survived by his loving wife of more than 40 years Tina Moore of Stockton; sons, Scott Riddle of San Jose and Joe Robinson of Sonora, sister Carol Stroud of Rancho Cordova, a nephew and a niece.

Tina wrote to me that Ken thoroughly enjoyed the reunion in 2010.

Mike Smith, Gary Main (Ken's best man at his wedding and vice versa) and I (and Les) attended the memorial held at the Waterloo Gun and Bocci Club in Stockton in July.

Wynn Cook, on the golf team with Ken at SMUHS, was unable to attend, but wrote a wonderful memories of him which I read at the memorial.

The following was written by Wynn Cook, edited by Anita where information duplicates the obituary:

Kenneth Steven Moore was Steve to me when our family moved to Santa Maria in 1952. He and his family lived about a block away from ours, so he was my friend, my high school Varsity Golf Teammate, and fellow memeber of the class of 1960 at SMUHS.

As a golfer, Ken was one of those guys blessed with extreme distance off the tee. In today's vernacular, he would hae been referred as "stupid long" like Dustin Johnson and J.B. Holmes who compete on the current PGA tour. Three hundred yard plus tee shots were not unusual for Steve in those days of persimmon head drivers, steel shafts and balata-covered balls.

He was an all-around athlete who was also solid in baseball, basketball, and trap shooting. He was also a serious student and quite the Renaissance man.

At the 50th reunion brunch on the beautiful grounds of classmate Pat ferini's Ranch, Pat invited all of the trap-shooting enthusiasts to participate. My last vision of Ken was walking briskly up the hill to the range. If he didn't hit all of the clay targets, I'll bet he didn't miss more than a handful.

Neighbor, teammate, classmate, genuine nice guy and good friend. Ken was all of these to me. All who had the privilege to know him were enriched by the experience.

The following is excerpted from an e-mail from Sandy Openshaw Hayes to Tina Moore, Kenneth Steven's widow:

Before I ever met Steven (that is what we called him at El Camino) I had the pleasure of being taught by his grandmother, Georgia, in Orcutt! What a great teacher she was and I was so happy to know that I had the name (Steven) of a future classmate when we moved to the "big cit" of Santa Maria to begin 7th grade. When we graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1960, we walked in pairs to receive our diplomas. Guess who my partner was? Yep, Steven Moore. Oh we were so young and slender! I, too, was happy to have a conversation with him at our recent reunion. He said some very nice things to my friend Kathy Wray Rogers about his experiences working with her late father. She was so grateful to Steven for making those comments. It meant a lot to her.
