I have such fond memories of Sandy. First, in recalling the gatherings at the Openshaws's home on weekends. She always warmly welcomed us, as teenagers, meeting at her home in Santa Maria. I also remember a time in which I was hospitalized in my teens for pneumonia. Her and her sister Karen visited me and found my room ill equipped with no TV available. The next thing I knew  was Sandy arranging to have a TV placed in my room. She was just a wonderful, warm and loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.

I was at the golf course, when my good friend Sotero Lopez, notified me of Sandy's passing. It was a sad day thinking about Sandy and of our friendship! I have many memories of Sandy, but the one that truly defines her, is of our first days at Santa Maria high school. Sandy was the first person that went out of her way to greet us Guadalupe kids and made us feel welcome. Sandy had a beautiful personality and would always welcome you and make you feel at ease. I will my very good friend Sandy. She was a wonderful and beautiful person!
