Jane and I rode the bus together to El Camino. I was always amazed at how perfectly she was able to polish her saddle oxfords. There was never any white on the black or black on the white. While I struggled with that task it was like she got new shoes each night.

I remember Jane first of all from El Camino Jr. High. She was such a sweet and pretty girl. Groups of
us would sit out in the yards by the tall hedges at recess and visit. She wore glasses and I didn't know
why I couldn't see the blackboard very well in class and asked her if I could try on her glasses. Lo and
behold, I could see perfectly well. Evidently, we both were very nearsighted!!
