Roger lived in Santa Barbara and was a hair dresser for many years. When he retired from hair dressing he went to work at UCSB as an Administrative Assistant....and since I worked there for many years we used to meet for lunch and laughes. He was a fun person to be around and I miss him.
Roger and I grew up together because our mom's were best of friends . He was so fun and one of my fondest memories when we were young was drinking his Grandpa Pete Guggia's homemade wine! Talk about purple teeth!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carol
I got involved with the our class reunions in April 2010. Over the next 2 years there was controversy as to the correct spelling of Roger Vanderburg's name. Our 1957 REVIEW has his surname printed as Vanderburg with the last vowel being a U rather than a E as in Vanderberg Air Force Base. About half the people I asked said the last vowel was a E and the other half said that last vowel was a U. Roger signed my 1957 REVIEW twice. But, I could not tell from his signatures whether the last vowel was a E or a U.
Finally after the middle of 2013, Helen Hammond said she had attended Roger's funeral and spelled his surname with the letter R instead of letter N before the burg. I looked at Roger's signatures in my REVIEW again. Indeed the last letter before burg is an R rather than an N. (I still can't tell from his signatures in my 1957 REVIEW whether the last vowel is a E or a U, but that is now moot), I found Roger's obituary. From other sources, I found that Roger moved to Santa Barbara in August of 1957. That's why Roger's picture and name does not appear in later REVIEWs. I also found a E. before Roger and found that it stands for Edward. So his complete name is Edward Roger Vanderberg.
