Leonard Deaton Deaton

Worked as a civil servant for the Navy from 1978 to 1996 in Norco, CA at a Navy facility called "Fleet Analysis Center". We were sort of an independent quality control agent for the Naval combat systems. I wrote criteria for assessing performance of battle groups in fleet exercises and reported performance results to the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon. I saw my analysis have some major impact on the navy.

Went to Cal Poly, UCSB, Hancock, Cal Poly again. Got BS in math in 1965 from Poly, MS in Statistics from Iowa in 1967, Phd in statistics from Oregon State In 1973. Taught for the math dept at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey for my Vietnam war active duty from July 1967 to Dec 1969. Taught for the math dept at Cal Poly from Jan 1970 to June 1970. Taught for Hancock in summer of 1970. Was an professor of math for Cal State Los Angeles from 1973 to 1978. Returned to Santa Maria in 1997 and have taught since then at Cal Poly, Hancock, Chapman, and University of LaVerne.
